City Treasurer

Art Carlton was first elected to serve as the City Treasurer of the City of Taft in April 1980 and has been re-elected every election since then, currently serving his 6th four-year term. Art's dedication to the City of Taft is evident to all that know him. Since 1980, he has missed only a few Council meetings, and that was due to illness or injury. At every Council meeting, you can be sure that Art is setting front row center with his wife, Lorraine, at his side.

As Treasurer, Art is also a member of the City of Taft Finance Committee. He is actively involved in the City's budget process and manages an assortment of investments for the City. Art does not have an office at City Hall, or even a desk to call his own. But he is faithful in arriving at City Hall everyday to either sign checks or to take the deposit to the bank. Art Carlton is a valuable asset to the City of Taft.
