The City of Taft Personnel/Human Resource Department is responsible for advertising employment opportunities, receiving and processing employment applications, scheduling and administering tests, managing employee benefits, coordinating employee training and handling risk management for the Administrative Offices, Public Works Department, Taft Police Department, Taft Community Correctional Facility and the Taft Area Transit.
Applications for Administrative Staff, Public Works Department and Transit Operators, are only accepted when the City is conducting a recruitment and/or there is a vacancy. Applications for Police Officers are accepted continuously, provided the applicant has completed all required training courses and has all required certifications. Applications for Correctional Officers will be accepted continuously only if all courses have been completed and the applicant has taken the BOC test and received a passing score of 133 or higher. The City offers the BOC test only during recruitments for Correctional Officer.

Erica Barron – HR Assistant - Erica has been with the City of Taft since 2001, she was hired as a temporary employee to work in the front office. Erica was responsible for answering phones, assisting customers, issuing building permits, business licenses, dog licenses, as well as anything else a customer may require assistance. In 2004, Erica became a permanent employee. Erica assists other departemts as needed.
Rena Manning – Office Assistant II – Rena has been with the City of Taft since 2007. Rena is the first person that one sees when entering City Hall. She is responsible for the front office, which includes assisting customers with obtaining building permits, business licenses, and dog licenses. Also, answering phones, and customer service with a smile. Rena also assists other departments as needed.
