Transit Goals

  -  Provide Transit Service that is effective in attracting and retaining transit riders in areas with identifiable transit needs.

  -  Provide economical and cost effective transportation.

  -  Coordinate transit system development with community planning, development efforts, and land use. 

New Service, New Routes, New Taft

Taft Area Transit (TAT) provides Taft Route 1 and 2, Maricopa-Taft Route, Dial-A-Ride service throughout the City of Taft.


Taft Service

Taft Route 1 will run a clockwise loop along Kern Street, Hwy 119, Wood Street, and as far north as Ashe Street. Stops along Route 1 include Taft College, K-Mart, Albertsons, Historic Fort, Taft High School, and Taft City Hall.

Taft Route 2 will run in a counter-clockwise loop as far north as Grevillea Street and as south as Kern Street; with stops near Lincoln Junior High, Taft College, County Adminstrative Services Building, Jefferson Elementary, K-Mart, Albertsons, Historic Fort, Taft City Hall, and Taft High.

 Monday-Friday          7:15 a.m. to 5:40p.m.
 Saturday                 8:15 a.m to 4:10 p.m.
 Sunday                   8:15 a.m to 4:10 p.m



Holidays

TAT does not operate on New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Lincoln's Birthday, Washington's Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day.

Maricopa-Taft Service

Maricopa- Taft Route will run three trips per day throughout the cities of Taft and Maricopa with stops near Taft High School, Taft College, Historic Fort, Albertsons Plaza, Maricopa Post Office, Maricopa High School, Maricopa City Hall.

Dial-A-Ride Service

TAT offers curb-to-curb Dial-A-Ride service to ADA patrons and to seniors (60+years). Dial-A-Ride is a reservation based, shared-ride service that mirrors the service areas and hours of the fixed route service. Dial-A-Ride is a service limited to the city of Taft and does not travel into Maricopa. To schedule a trip call (661) 763-3822.

Passenger Guidelines

Dos

  -  Pay your fare (exact change only).
  -  Be respectful of your driver and fellow passengers.
  -  Reserve front seats for elderly and/or disabled passengers.
  -  Keep hands and objects inside vehicles.  
  -  Remain seated until the vehicle comes to a complete stop.
  -  Report any vandalism to driver.

Dont's

  -  No smoking.
  -  No offensive language or threatening behavior.
  -  No littering.
  -  No music or excessive noise.
  -  No food or drinks onboard.
  -  No marking/defacing vehicle.
  -  No pets/animals except assistance animals with an offical tag.

Note: TAT drivers may refuse to persons acting inappropriately or causing harm to other customers or driver. Passengers unwilling tp abide by these guidelines may be barred from using the city's transportation service.

Bikes on Bus

Getting around the City of Taft just got easier. Take you bike along when you ride the bus. TAT buses feature easy-to-load bike racks. Motorized bicycles may not be loaded onto TAT bike carriers.
