Prior to being selected as Director of Finance, Teresa was the Accountant for the City of Taft. Teresa is a Taft College graduate and she continued her education at CSUB. Teresa had previously worked in the private sector in an oil related industry, the banking industry, and for an accounting firm, where she accumulated over 18 years of experience. Teresa and her staff do an excellent job keeping our City running efficiently and protecting the taxpayers money.

The Buck Stops Here. . .

The Finance Department performs all the financial record-keeping and reporting for the City of Taft, TCDA, WWTP, and other agencies. The goal of the Finance Department is to provide accurate and timely financial information to the City Manager and the City Council so that they can make sound business decisions.

The Finance Department oversees the day to day revenue collection and processing, including but not limited to; Business License fees; Sewer and Refuse fees; dog licensing fees; loan payments from the City Grant Programs also accounts payable and payroll are finance functions.

First-Time Home Buyer, Rehabilitation, and Business Loans

The Finance Department also oversees the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Economic Development (EDBG, and the HOME program. These programs assist community members in obtaining rehabilitation loans, first-time home buyer loans and rental rehabilitation loans. The EDBG program offers loans to community members and investors who are interested in starting a business or current businesses that need additional funds to purchase additional capital to expand or update their business.
