The Taft Fire Department is a full-service fire department providing the following essential services:

- Fire Prevention Inspections of existing and new businesses and plan checks for code compliance

|   Our Fire Department is a combination of paid and volunteer Firefighters. We have 7 Career Personnel; 1 Fire Chief, 3 Captains, 1 Engineer, 2 Firefighters, 14 Paid Call Firefighters, including 2 Paid Call Captains, and 14 Auxiliary Firefighters. We have 2 Engines and 2 Patrols. We serve the residential community, approximately 400 businesses, 1 Federal Prison, and 1 Community Correctional Facility. We provide and receive Automatic and Mutual Aid from the Kern County Fire Department. |

Firefighter Requirements/Opportunities
|
| Paid Call Firefighter - must live within 20 minutes of City Hall. The City of Taft continuously accepts applications for Paid Call Firefighters.
Auxiliary Firefighter - must have graduated from California State Approved Fire Academy. Compensated Position- 1-year commitment, 1 twenty-four hour shift per week
