In the late 1980's the State of California CDC needed more bed space and cities and counties were given contracts to house low level state inmates. The Taft Community Correctional Facility (CCF) began as a AB1591 - Return To Custody Facility or RTC. Our facility was built in 1990 and opened January 1991. The Facility closed in November of 2011 due to AB 109 (Prison Realignment) and was re-opened in February, 2014 as a Modified Community Correctional Facility under contract with CDCR to house 600 inmates.
