The City of Taft is looking for a motivated individual for the position of Maintenance/Equipment Operator. Please see the attached Job Description for all requirements and salary information.

Maintenance Worker/Equipment Operator I-II Job Description

Maintains and cleans streets, sewers, water systems, grounds, right of ways and other public facilities. Work includes building maintenance, cleaning and construction work associated with the maintenance of public buildings, and correctional facility, equipment and grounds, Operates a variety of tools, construction and automotive equipment, and is responsible for routine maintenance of tools and equipment. Work involves operation of complex equipment with minimum direct supervision and a high degree of skill. Examples of equipment utilized include: street sweepers, scrapers, road rollers, refuse collection vehicles, backhoes, and front loaders; and perform a variety of related work as needed or assigned.  Employees in this classification are frequently called upon to lead a crew and direct work on a project. 

Level I - High school diploma or GED equivalent and Two (2) years of experience in the construction or maintenance of streets, sewers, water systems, and the operation of automotive equipment associated with construction and maintenance. 
Level II - At least three (3) years experience performing duties and responsibilities equivalent to a Maintenance Worker/Equipment Operator I and proficiency all operation of all Equipment. 
Journey-level Backhoe and Loader operator experience is highly desired. 
Any combination of experience and education that would be likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities could be qualifying, as determined by the City.
